NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION PRESENTS A RED OAK TO SPRINGSIDE

The Academy Street Area Partnership has very generously presented Springside with the gift of a red oak tree, which volunteers from both organizations planted at noon on Arbor day, April 30, 2010.

The Academy Street Area Partnership (ASAP) was formed to preserve the historic and residential character of the Academy Street Historic District and the surrounding neighborhoods.

ASAP works closely with other neighboring associations, districts and city officials to actively promote the safety of the neighborhood and assist the city in identifying issues and developing solutions toward maintaining these important assets.

In honor of Arbor Day, ASAP decided to donate the tree to Springside as a way to mark the occasion and help Springside plant a specie that Andrew Jackson Downing had recommended for the site.

The Springside Landscape Restoration Board of Directors is very grateful for such a generous contribution as well as being selected as the site for the ASAP Arbor Day donation.
